Well, it’s over. Another Christmas and New Years has come and gone. The passage of time seems to move much more quickly as I am getting older. It was just 10 years ago that we were all so worried about the worlds systems crashing because of the New Millennium.
As a realtor, I live mostly on credit. Pay for my advertising on credit, gas, clothing, nails, almost everything I purchase in on credit, even my groceries (I like the travel points).
We went to our good friends home on New Years Eve and enjoyed good food, wine and great company. I was a little in awe of our friends. They were so excited with what they received for Christmas. These friends do not buy anything on credit, if they want something, they save their money and when they have the funds to make the purchase they do. They don’t travel on credit and they don’t make impulsive purchases on credit. There is something to be said for instant gratification when using credit, however after seeing how proud and thrilled they were with their Christmas gifts I was a little jealous.
This year, when I think about purchasing something, I am not going to use my credit card. I will save the money and when I have the cash in hand, make my purchase. I will not go for the instant gratification of getting it that day. If the Guess pair of shoes is gone when I go to get them, I will deal with it. I don’t believe in New Year Resolutions, however, I do believe I’ve just made one.
