We just spent a wonderful 4 days in Jackson's Hole, Wyomming. Within 1/2 hour of arriving we saw a moose and bald headed eagle. It was truly amazing. The bus driver pointed out Harrison Fords piece of real estate backing onto a river. I do believe it was Snake River. He wore an oil skin coat and huge cowboy hat, I guess he was setting the tone for our adventure.
Both my husband and I were in awe of how laid back the people of Jackson were. We were on a ski holiday and one of your concerns as a skiier is losing your expensive equipment do to theft. In Ontario and the east (Quebec and Vermont) you need to lock your skiis. At most resorts there are special ski racks that you use with "ski keys". These ski locking systems are found across Canada and the northern part of the states where we have spent alot of time skiing. We forgot our locks at home and visited a couple of the pro shops at the village to be a ski lock. Well....most of the people had never heard of such a thing. One guy said "this is Wyomming, people don't steal each others skiis". It was a nice feeling being able to run into the chalet for a coffee and not worry about your skiis being taken.
Real Estate in Wyomming is very expensive. It is truly un-believable, we think Caledon, Mulmur and Mono property is expensive, its nothing like Jackson. A small house that we would purchase for 350,000 on a couple acres sells for 3/4's of a million dollars. This is do to the fact that there is no land available, most of the area is a National Park and there is nowhere left to build. The rich love Wyomming due to the fact that they don't pay income tax. Truly.....a different way of life.
